Last friday, NAACP had their 41st Image Award ceremony. Among the winners was Tyler Perry, who gave a powerful speech after winning the Special Honoree Chairman's Award. Achieving new heights should be on the minds of all and Tyler Perry's faith in himself and God has surely raised him to the top.
Along with Tyler Perry, other Special Honoree awards include the President's Award which was given to Van Jones, a pioneer in human rights and clean energy economy & author; and the winner of the Vanguard Award was Wyclef Jean, Grammy Award-winning songwriter/musician/producer, humanitarian, Goodwill Ambassador to Haiti, and founder of Yéle Haiti.
The main awards were given to actors/actresses, directors, writers, artists, television and movies. Winners included Gabourey Sidibe from Precious, Mary J Blige, Steve Harvey's Act Like A Woman Think Like A Man, Jada Pinket Smith for "HawthoRNe" and The Mo`nique Show.
